The annual Asian Epigenomics Meeting is organised by The Asian Epigenome Network (comprising five members: Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan and Singapore) to foster the collaboration and exchange of scientific expertise and knowledge in the broad area of epigenomics. Each year, we organise an international conference among these members.
An equal mix of foreign and local scientific experts working in the areas of epigenetics and epigenomics will speak at this conference. We estimate an approximate 300 to 350 participants from all over the world.
The advancement of cutting-edge technologies such as high density DNA microarrays and ultra high-throughput sequencing has enabled robust determination of chromatin changes. Epigenomics is an emerging frontier of research that addresses the global analyses of epigenetic landscapes at the whole genome level.
In the near future, we will witness the leap in knowledge generation in this area and this research will impact on many fields such as cancer and development. In fact, epigenomics has been identified as one of the roadmap initiatives by the National Institutes of Health (USA). Globally, there have been tremendous interests to analyse the epigenomes of different model organisms including human. With the increasing investment in biomedical research by the Asian government, there is no doubt that the research carried out in Asian countries will have increasing impacts in the global scientific arena.
