The Environmental Mutagen Society is the primary professional society for scientists involved in research into environmental causes and consequences of damage to the genome and epigenome. Our mission is to transmit emerging knowledge and support national and international efforts to ensure a healthy, sustainable environment for future generations. The Society’s Annual Meeting is unique in bringing together scientists who carry out basic research with those involved in risk estimation and regulatory concerns related to the consequences of exposure to environmental, industrial, and pharmaceutical agents. The result is a dynamic meeting that is sufficiently large enough to cover a broad range of contemporary topics, yet focused and small enough to facilitate interactions between students and renowned scientists in academia, government, and industry.
The theme of the 43rd Annual EMS Meeting is “EMS: The Next Generation.” The goals of this meeting are to:
- Present cutting edge basic research in the areas of DNA repair, regulation of gene expression, epigenetics, systems biology, mutagenesis, inflammation cancer and aging in symposia and keynote lectures.
- Present emerging “next generation” technologies and approaches in genomic research, genetic toxicology and risk assessment in workshops, symposia and keynote lectures.
- Feature the work of students, young investigators and EMS members in six platform sessions.
- Network with students, mentors and colleagues at ten Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings, two receptions, and a banquet.
- Entice students and young investigators to become the “Next Generation” EMS members.
EMS invites you to join us at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in Bellevue, Washington for this exciting and rewarding scientific meeting.
The scientific program consists of eight symposia, seven plenary lectures, three workshops, two poster sessions, and six platform sessions. In addition to the scientific program, the Annual Meeting will convene meetings of the ten Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that represent the diversity of the Society and help set the agenda for future EMS meetings.
The program represents the full spectrum of strengths of our uniquely multi-disciplinary Society and includes something for everyone.
