In today’s omic world databases are crucial, which is why always we keep our conference-ome up to date. Here’s a taste of what 2016 has left to offer for your next educational epigenetic excursion.
EMBL’s Transcription and Chromatin (Heidelberg, Germany – Aug 27-30)
Interested in transcription? Then this is the conference for you! This meeting brings together world leaders to cover transcriptional regulation from the perspective of enhancers, basal machinery, chromatin, and stem cells. The all-star speaker line-up includes Wolf Reik, Bing Ren, Ana Pombo, and Alexander van Oudenaarden.

EMGS Annual Meeting (Kansas City, Kansas, USA – Sept 24-28)
The theme of this year’s Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society annual meeting is “From Environment to [Epi]Genome and Back Again”. This big meeting unites researchers from academia, industry, and the government towards protecting our [epi]genomes from environmental threats. You’ll definitely want to catch keynote speakers Andrew Feinberg, Paul Modrich (2015 Nobel Laureate), and Arul Chinnaiyan.
Epigenomics in Development and Disease (Estérel, Québec, Canada – Sept 18-21)
With the recent shift in international political climate, many have been considering moving to Canada and the Estérel Resort may just be what it takes to convince you to ditch the return flight. This meeting brings together Canadian and international researchers who are interested in how epigenomics relates to health and development. Janine LaSalle, Michael Kobor, Tim Reddy, and Li-Huei Tsai are some of the invited presenters.
Why don’t you go and have a look, eh?
Genomic Imprinting, Epigenetics and Physiological Functions Workshop (Erice, Sicily, Italy – Oct 2-7)
When you’re clearing customs for this one, you’ll probably have to check both work and pleasure. This small mountain town in Italy will have you appreciating Ancient, Medieval, and Epigenetic architecture as you learn about the latest in genomic imprinting. Organizers/speakers include imprinting gurus Anne Ferguson-Smith and Anthony Isles.

Danube Conference on Epigenetics (Budapest, Hungary – Oct 5-8)
The Danube is a beautiful river running through Europe that’s sure to capture your breath. In the 2nd Danube conference on epigenetics you’ll learn all about epigenetics, ranging from single-cell studies to transgenerational inheritance from speakers such as Eileen Furlong, Christoph Bock, and Eric Miska.
Toxicoepigenetics (Tysons, Virgina, USA – Nov 2-4)
This Society of Toxicology meeting focuses on the interface between the environment and public health, as mediated by our beloved epigenome. The focus is on both current research efforts and the need for future risk assessment. Researchers from academia, government (Environmental Protection Agency), and industry are uniting for this meeting chaired by Shaun McCullough and Dana Dolinoy.
